Behind every small business there’s a real family, and Prep Coffee is no exception. Executive Chef Sebastian and Valeria Rivera have always shared a passion for hospitality in their professional and personal lives, and have now teamed up to bring their ambitious vision to the local community with the first location of Prep Coffee here in Matawan/Old Bridge, New Jersey.

Valeria RIVERA

OWNER & GENERAL MANAGER

Valeria Rivera is Sebastian’s partner in both life and in Prep Coffee. She has worked in every front-of-house role in the food & beverage industry, so there is very little she hasn’t seen, heard, or done. Born in Lviv, Ukraine, she immigrated to Staten Island, NY in 1996. After graduating from Johnson & Wales University, she began working for Marriott at the company’s flagship property, the New York Marriott Marquis in Times Square, a spot whose energy, hustle, and bustle forever has her heart.

VIKRAM SHARMA

OWNER

Vikram Sharma is a long time professional in the IT field and a real driver of innovation in all aspects of his life. Born in Punjab, India, he immigrated to New Jersey to further his education and has since built a long-standing reputation of being a culinary connoisseur. Vikram enjoys, fine dining, mixology and coffee cultures in his daily routine. He also appreciates a mix of creativity and tradition. An affluent lover of caffeine himself, his signature beverages underline the significant relationships between coffee and it's loyalists - where classic tastes meet new-age trends.

EXECUTIVE CHEF

Sebastian Rivera has food and beverage in his heart and soul, and it shows in all of his creations. Born in Bogota, Colombia, he immigrated to Union City, NJ with his mother in 1992. After graduating from Johnson & Wales University, Sebastian recognized his budding appetite for hospitality and worked his way up from Salad Station Attendant to Executive Chef and has never looked back. Sebastian’s has worked with renowned restaurateurs Daniel Boulud in New York, Mike Isabella and Jenn Carroll in Washington, DC before transitioning to corporate dining with Sodexo at Unilever North American Headquarters in Englewood Cliffs, NJ.
